Platos tradicionales ingleses

 

	FISH AND CHIPS Es un plato de comida rápida muy popular enInglaterra. El plato consiste en pescado de diferentes tipos (sobre todo bacalao y merluza)  rebozado con harina y huevo acompañado de patatas fritas a las que se suele añadir sal y vinagre.
SUNDAY ROAST Llamado así porque es típico tomarlo los domingos consiste en asado de diferentes carnes ( cerdo, terneraó cordero ) acompañado de patatas asadas, yorkshire pudding (como un vol-au-vent vacío), salchichas y verduras de temporada todo ello regado con una espesa salsa hecha con cebolla y el jugo de la carne (gravy).
	BANGERS AND MASH Son salchichas con pure de patata. Las salchichas pueden ser de varios tipos y el puré de patata es natural. A este plato también se le añade salsa gravy.
SHEPHERD´S PIE (“EMPANADA DEL PASTOR”) Consiste en una capa de carne de cordero picada y recubierta de puré de patata.La carne picada está frita con cebolla, gisantes, zanahorias y otras verduras; cuando está hecha se le añade una capa de puré de patata consistente y se mete al horno hasta que se dore y se ponga crujiente. Otras variantes son Cottage pie (si está hecha con carne de ternera.) y Fisherman's pie (con pescado).
	PIES (EMPANADAS) Son similares a nuestras empanadas, las más frecuentes son de pollo con champiñones (chicken and mushroom), ternera y riñones (steak and kidney) y ternera a la cerveza (steak and ale), todas ellas se sirven acompañadas de gravy y normalmente de patatas y verduras.
BUBBLE AND SQUEAK Es un plato hecho con restos de verduras  del día anterior, normalmente del Sunday roast que se fríen todas juntas. Los principales ingredientes son col, patatas, zanahorias, habas , coles de bruselas y cualquier otra verdura que se tenga a mano.
	TOAD IN THE HOLE (literalmente sapo en el agujero) Son salchichas en masa de pudín de Yorkshire, normalmente servido con verduras y gravy.
PLOUGHMAN´S LUNCH (“literalmente almuerzo del labrador”) Es un aperitivo frío que se suele servir en los pubs y consiste en un plato con unos trozos de queso (normalmente chedar), encurtidos o cebolletas a la vinagreta, pan y mantequilla.

SUNDAY ROAST

So named because it typically involves taking Sunday roast various meats (pork, lamb terneraó) accompanied by roasted potatoes, yorkshire pudding (like a vol-au-vent vacuum), sausages and seasonal vegetables all washed down with a thick sauce made with onions and gravy (gravy)

 

Bangers and mash

They are sausages with mashed potato. The sausages can be of various types and the mashed potato is natural. In this dish it is also added gravy.

 

Shepherd's PIE ("shepherd's pie")

Consisting of a layer of minced lamb and mashed coated patata.La minced meat is fried with onions, gisantes, carrots and other vegetables; when done is added a layer consisting of mashed potato and baked in the oven until golden and crisp set.

Other variants are standing Cottage (if made with veal.) And fish pie (with fish).

 

FEET (PIES)

They are similar to our empanadas, the most common are chicken with mushrooms (chicken and mushroom), veal kidneys (steak and kidney) and beef to beer (steak and ale), all of which are served with gravy and usually potatoes and vegetables.

Bubble and squeak

It is a dish made with remains of vegetables the previous day, usually the Sunday roast to fry all together. The main ingredients are cabbage, potatoes, carrots, beans, Brussels sprouts and other vegetables that is at hand.

 

TOAD IN THE HOLE (literally toad in the hole)

They are sausages in Yorkshire pudding mass, usually served with vegetables and gravy.

PLOUGHMAN'S LUNCH (literally "farmer lunch")

It is a cold appetizer that is usually served in pubs and consists of a plate with a few pieces of cheese (cheddar normally) pickles or onions in vinaigrette, bread and butter.
